Manhole Cover Cork Trivet-HARTFORD

$25.00

The Insurance capital of the world, Hartford is the state capital of Connecticut. Founded in 1637 and named for the English town of Hertfordshire from where European founder Samuel Stone hailed, the city is home to just over 120,000 people. Hartford is located at the confluence of the Connecticut and Park rivers. The latter is buried by a highway much to the chagrin of the city’s most famous resident and river writer Mark Twain. Another resident of note is Samuel Colt whose firearms factory was located at the river’s edge, but is now a luxury loft complex and insurance office, of course. Interestingly, the city has cast many iron covers using melted-down firearms. A good use for all firearms. This cover features a bold expression of its use in duplicate along with a Colt45 barrel silhouette at its center. A curiously shaped pickpoint sits center which is surrounded by a constellation of rotated squares, one of which has morphed into a familiar shape.

The perfect gift for housewarmings, and anniversaries each illustration is initially hand-drawn for precision and then permanently etched into cork. The trivets are .375" thick and 7.25" in diameter with rounded edges. The engraving method has incredible detail and tactility. Fabricated from sustainable Portuguese cork. Designed and packaged in Philadelphia, PA USA.
Cork is a natural material, thus rare aberrations within the etching can occur.
