Manhole Cover Cork Trivet-Asheville, NC

$25.00

Situated in Buncombe County, Asheville is nestled in the Blue Ridge mountains and grew from the confluence of the French Broad and Swannanoa rivers. Both of those geographic features are depicted on this pictorial cover. The County Seat got its moniker from former Governor Samuel Ashe, an enslaver who has ties to tennis great Arthur Ashe through a West African named Amar. The Cherokee worked the land before it was officially incorporated in 1797. Asheville is home to just under 100,000 people and ranks 11th in population for the state. Its nickname, The Land of the Sky, is made evident on the cover with its large flat-bottomed Cumulus cloud floating above the mountains. Many visitors come to hike those mountains and tour the adjacent Biltmore estate to soak in the cultural history and architecture. Latin for wholesome water is written in lowercase for some reason within the river and the purpose and location of the cover surrounds the image. Two pickpoints sit east and west and an oddly shaped gum splat occupies the right bank.
