Manhole Cover Cork Trivet-GENOA

$25.00

The city with two faces, one to the sea and the other toward the mountains, Genoa has a history stretching back millennia. With nearly 600,000 people, Genova is the 6th largest city in Italy and is the nation’s busiest port. The Unesco World Heritage city suffered a major tragedy on August 14th, 2018 when the Morandi bridge collapsed due to deferred maintenance, killing 43 people and injuring 16 more. The bridge was demolished and replaced by a pro-Bono design from native Genoan, Renzo Piano, a modern-day Da Vinci. This iron cover is adapted from a rectangular one below the new bridge. The Genoan coat of arms sits center in a field of hatch only interrupted by the city name and the pick points.

The perfect gift for housewarmings, and anniversaries each illustration is initially hand-drawn for precision and then permanently etched into cork. The trivets are .375" thick and 7.25" in diameter with rounded edges. The engraving method has incredible detail and tactility. Fabricated from sustainable Portuguese cork. Designed and packaged in Philadelphia, PA USA.
Cork is a natural material, thus rare aberrations within the etching can occur.
As each one is made to order please allow three business days for delivery.
