Home to one of the finest educational institutions in North America, Charlottesville is where Thomas Jefferson lived and founded UVA in 1819. The campus quad is remarkable: a central lawn bordered by mingled faculty and student housing whose colonnades march northeast toward the library. The domed edifice is an architectural masterpiece that looks out to the lawn and the hills beyond. All of this magnificence was planned by Jefferson who was a slaveholder and thus, the enslaved played a large role in campus construction. That history has come to the fore in recent years culminating in a deadly protest against a white supremacist rally held on August 12th, 2017. Heather Heyer was killed and numerous protestors were injured when a white supremacist drove purposefully into them at 4th and East Main street. This cover, which has a ubiquitous pattern, can be found at that location. Created by Virginia-based Capitol Foundry, the cover features concentric dots and rings with its usage writ in Industrial typeface at the core. Pickpoints are at the east-west quadrants.

The perfect gift for housewarmings, and anniversaries each illustration is initially hand-drawn for precision and then permanently etched into cork. The trivets are .375" thick and 7.25" in diameter with rounded edges. The engraving method has incredible detail and tactility. Fabricated from sustainable Portuguese cork. Designed and packaged in Philadelphia, PA USA.
Cork is a natural material, thus rare aberrations within the etching can occur.
