The surrounding area adds over 3 million more people and with the temperate climate, the headquarters of Amazon and Starbucks as well as nearby Microsoft and Boeing, the city has earned very high property values. Seattle is a relatively progressive city, as represented architecturally by the iconic Space Needle, Gehry’s Experience Music Project and OMA’s public library by OMA. And while the city has some artful contemporary covers, these four iron covers represent the Seattle of yore. Each illustration is initially hand-drawn for precision and then permanently etched into cork. These make the perfect birthday or holiday gift. Each coaster is .25" thick and 4" in diameter. The engraving method has incredible detail and tactility. Fabricated from sustainable Portuguese cork. Designed and packaged in Philadelphia, PA USA.
Cork is a natural material, thus rare aberrations within the etching can occur, but at this scale good luck noticing.
