Manhole Cover Cork Trivet-CANCUN

$25.00

Cancún’s name derives from a mixed understanding of Maya culture and the word for snake, Kaan and Kun, to swell. Long a fishing region, Mexico began investing in the area in the mid-1970’s and it has become a popular tourist destination. So much so, that despite the city’s alignment with the Central Timezone, Cancún maintains an Eastern Timezone to be in line with the people and money of America’s Eastern coast. While some question the potability of the water in Mexico, this cover is dedicated to its purity. Produced for Aguakan by Fundidora de Tenayuca, the cover has a riveted appearance with 42 hemispheres spread in a grid formation. Aguakan’s logo is near the center with the foundry listed below along with adjacent pickpoints. An added nombre de la ciudad lends location to this ubiquitous cover style.

The perfect gift for housewarmings, and anniversaries each illustration is initially hand-drawn for precision and then permanently etched into cork. The trivets are .375" thick and 7.25" in diameter with rounded edges. The engraving method has incredible detail and tactility. Fabricated from sustainable Portuguese cork. Designed and packaged in Philadelphia, PA USA.
Cork is a natural material, thus rare aberrations within the etching can occur.
