The city of Churches, Adelaide, Australia is situated within a Mediterranean climate in Southern Australia. Positioned just off the western coast of the St. Vincent Gulf, the city took its name from Adelaide of Saxe-Meininge, who became Queen of England in 1831. The city itself was established five years later. The cover was manufactured by recently defunct Beverly Industries Australia located in the suburb of Ottoway. Its distinctive snowflake design seems to have been copied by a few foundries, with this one having a section removed for infrastructure identity and an added arced mention of the municipality. This pattern is curious as snow is a very rare thing in Adelaide having only received a dusting in 2012 and nothing measurable since 1951, but with climate change…who knows? Another thought for this pattern could be a reference to the webs of the many venomous spiders found in the city.
